iOS Music Tunes: The Traveller by Evangelos Koudonas

by chip on January 22, 2013

Every week, iOS Music Tunes will feature a piece of music made with an iPad, iPhone, or iPod – directly from one of our readers. There’s a lot of artistic potential in iOS devices, and iOS Music And You readers are putting all the fantastic tools to use in creative and exciting ways. This regular feature will be an opportunity to appreciate the interesting things that our readers are doing with iOS music, get some new ideas, and kickstart the creative process. If you’ve made some music with an iPad, iPhone, or iPod that you want to share, submit it now – you can get the info HERE. Now sit back and enjoy today’s featured reader on iOS Music Tunes . . .

The Traveller
Evangelos Koudonas

Tell us a little bit about the piece, including what iOS devices/app you used to bring it to life.
I wrote this on Garageband for iPad; since I’m mainly a guitarist, I wrote the chords on my guitar and then added drums, bass, guitar and keyboards using Garageband. I also used JamUp Pro XT for some extra guitars and recorded it to MultiTrack DAW with the help of Audiobus.

It started as improvisation and then the melody stuck in my mind. I tried to bring a story out of this piece, a man who always travels to different places.

Give us a little background on yourself as a musician.
I’m a self taught guitarist – I love the sound of the guitar and I see it as a canvas for my creations. I love both my acoustic and electric guitar; each one serves a different purpose.

Why do you use iOS devices to make music?
They’re portable and they’re not toys. There are so many good iOS apps out there for the musicians – it’s a sin not to make music on an iPad/iPhone :)

The device is always there next to me , begging me to write some music.

Give us a quick tip – an idea that has helped you make your iOS music making more productive, fun, inspiring, or creative.
Based on the music you make, focus on 2-3 apps and squeeze the best out of them. You should spend time with them, master them, and then you’re on a good path. Give time to yourself to create things and be patient.

Give us a link to a place where we can hear more of your music and learn more about you.
